Tony Sewell

Chief Executive

Tony joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in 1994 and has had a major role in establishing the company as a property investor and property developer. Prior to this, Tony was National Operations Manager, Landcorp Property.

He has extensive experience in the property industry in the areas of construction, industrial and commercial property development, residential subdivision, shopping centre development, property management, property investment and company management.

Tony is a member of the Property Institute of New Zealand and in 2004 was recognised by his peers in receiving the New Zealand Property Institutes Industry Award. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors and a board member of the Property Council of New Zealand and the Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce.

Russell Pyne

General Manager, Development

Russell joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in 1995 when the company was still in its infancy. Russell has more than 25 years' experience in the property industry specialising in development projects. He began his career as a valuer with the Housing Corporation prior to pursuing a property development career, later becoming South Island Development Manager for Downer Development in 1988. In 1991, Russell set up his own business specialising in valuation and consultancy work in the residential sector, while promoting and managing commercial and industrial development projects for a private company. Russell is a registered valuer and a member of the Property Institute of New Zealand.

Ian Dewar

General Manager - Property Investment

Ian has been with Ngāi Tahu Property Limited since 1998. He has more than 28 years' experience in property management, in a wide variety of property sectors including office, industrial, retail and residential, and has worked throughout New Zealand for private and corporate, national and offshore investors. Ian has a Bachelor of Business Studies in Valuation and Property Management from Massey University and is a member of the Property Institute of New Zealand.

Edwin Jansen

General Manager, Rural

Edwin has 25 years' experience in the forestry, wood processing and property sectors and has undertaken a number of roles within Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation and Ngāi Tahu Property Limited since 1999. He currently manages the rural portfolio that includes the management of 118,000 hectares of forestry land, high country stations, dairy farm conversion, water rights, irrigation and associated infrastructure as well as the company Proseed New Zealand Limited, which is the largest forest seed producer in Australasia. Edwin holds Bachelor degrees in Science and Forestry Science and has a Diploma in Accounting.

Helen Keegan

Manager, Right of First Refusal (RFR)

Helen joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in January 1998 on her return to New Zealand after eight years abroad. Helen manages the Right of First Refusal process and ensures compliance, by all parties, with Part 9 of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998.

Guy Milburn

Chief Financial Officer

Guy joined Ngāi Tahu Property, initially as commercial manager, in November 2008 on his return to New Zealand. He has over 12 years' commercial experience, mostly gained in group accountancy and financial auditing roles in the UK, Ireland and Australia. Guy started his career in Christchurch as an auditor for Price Waterhouse prior to working overseas to London and Dublin. From 2001-2007 he worked in the Australian listed property sector where he held senior finance roles for Westfield and Stockland in Sydney, and has also held roles in the construction and electronics industries. Guy holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury and is a full member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Alan Grove

Development Manager

Alan Grove joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in August 2003 as a Property Developer.

Alan graduated from the University of the West of England (Bristol) with a BSc Honours degree in Valuation and Estate Management, and commenced his career with Chesterton International Property Consultants specialising in commercial development and brokerage. RICS qualified, Alan moved to a development consultancy position with Edwards Hardwick & Partners developing retail and leisure projects throughout the UK, before moving to Christchurch in 2000.

Alan began his NZ career with the Carter Group in Christchurch as a developer and project manager for retail and hotel projects, then moving to Telco Asset Management before moving to Ngāi Tahu Property Limited.

Andrew Clayton

Rural Operations Manager

Andrew was born and raised in on West Coast of the South Island on his family's sheep and beef farm which was converted to dairy in 1993.

After being high schooled in Christchurch he studied Commerce and Farm management at Lincoln University. From here Andrew moved to Wellington where he worked for a bank as a business analyst. In 2004 Andrew moved to Nelson and worked as a Agricultural Relationship Manager for a bank covering the top of the South Island . Here Andrew provided financial assistance to a wide range of agricultural and horticultural businesses. In 2007 Andrew left for the UK where he worked in London Central. Here he worked in the finance sector primarily as a Financial Strategic Manager dealing with Public Private Partnerships. After two and a half years based in London Andrew returned to New Zealand where he joined Ngāi Tahu Property’s rural team as their Rural Operations Manager.

Campbell McGrouther

Property Manager

Campbell has a Bachelor of Commerce (VPM) from Lincoln University along with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Commerce. He has been in the property business for 11 years and his experience includes both residential and commercial property management.

Campbell joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in 1999.

David Schwartfeger

Development Manager

David has 15 years experience in property throughout New Zealand and has completed work for a number of large multinational companies and wealthy private investors.

More recently David has completed work setting up a land subdivision business for Carter Holt Harvey around New Zealand and assisting CHH in selling excess land. Prior to that, David was General Manager on the Prince's Wharf Development on the Auckland waterfront incorporating $300m Retail, Hilton Hotel and Apartment complex.

David is a member of the NZ Property Institute and Real Estate Institute and has a property degree from Lincoln University.

Dene Maddren

Residential Sales Manager

Dene has a broad background in sales and marketing. After obtaining a Bachelor of Business Studies in Marketing from Massey University, he worked for a number of years with Hewlett-Packard in New Zealand and Australia in marketing communications management roles.

Dene established and managed a successful import and distribution business that pioneered the energy drink beverage market in New Zealand for a number of years prior to joining Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in 2002.

Geri Kerr

Project Marketing Manager

Geri joined Ngāi Tahu Property in July 2010 on her return to New Zealand after 15 years living in the UK and Europe. During her time overseas, Geri worked for Lend Lease as a development marketing manager within their Retail Development team, as well as an account manager for a boutique retail marketing agency in Dublin, Ireland. Geri is currently studying for a post-graduate professional diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Glenn Rossi

Project Accountant

After completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) from the University of Otago along with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Commerce in 2002, Glenn commenced his career with HG Livingstones as a Property Accountant. After leaving Livingstones in November 2004, Glenn worked in Australia for Amalgamated Holdings Ltd and the UK contracting as a Property Accountant.

Glenn joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in April 2008 as a Project Accountant.

Gordon Craig

Development Manager

Gordon has 20 years experience in the property industry in commercial, industrial, and retail and shopping centre management and development. He has specialised in retail management development for a large part of that time and has also undertaken roles as both landlord and tenant in recent years.

Prior to embarking on his property career, Gordon was undertaking industrial engineering/management services roles in various organisations in Wellington. He joined the Government Life property team in the mid 1980’s and took over the property management function for the northern region shortly after.

In late 1988 Gordon moved into the role of General Manager Shopping Centres with Coles Myer Properties (NZ) Ltd and following their departure in 1994, joined Kiwi Income Property Trust. During this period he was heavily involved in the design, development, leasing and management of shopping centres throughout New Zealand.

In late 1999 Gordon took the role of Director Property and Network Planning with Restaurant Brands NZ Ltd, where he was responsible for the development and management of the total property network incorporating Pizza Hut, KFC and Starbucks. In 2002 he joined Fletcher Distribution Ltd with the responsibility for the management of existing, and development of new PlaceMakers outlets.

In early 2004 Gordon formed his own property consultancy based In Auckland and has undertaken projects throughout New Zealand. He joined Ngāi Tahu Property Ltd in October 2005 as a Property Developer.

Jane Higgins

Property Manager

Jane has over 15 years experience in valuation and property management since graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce (VPM) from Lincoln University. Jane became a registered valuer while working for Valuation New Zealand in Wellington and has since worked as a Property Manager for Broadcast Communications Ltd in Wellington and Terra Firma Group Limited in Auckland, covering a variety of property including transmission sites, industrial, commercial office and retail.

Following a position as Property Manager with Carter Group, Jane joined Ngāi Tahu Property in 2005.

Mike Davison

Assistant Development Manager

Mike joined Ngāi Tahu property in May 2008 after previously working as a Sales Representative for Builders Hardware Company. This role involved providing an interface for clients (predominately members of the construction industry) on any issues or matters they needed to be resolved.

Mike completed University in 2006 graduating with a BAppSc (Hons) degree from Otago University.

Scott Johansson

Assistant Development Manager

Scott joined Ngāi Tahu Property in May 2008. He holds Bachelor's degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Canterbury.

Post graduation, Scott spent several years in the UK working in the investment banking industry before relocating to Sydney where he established a health based business. After the sale of his business, Scott returned to Christchurch where he joined Ngāi Tahu Property Limited in his first role within the property sector.

Shannon Goldsmith

Property Manager

Shannon was the inaugural Ngāi Tahu Property Scholarship recipient in 2001. In addition to his commerce degree from Otago University he holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Property Management & Valuation) from Lincoln University.

Shannon commenced his career with DTZ (NZ) Ltd performing various sales, leasing and property management roles. In 2004 Shannon took up employment with Ngāi Tahu Property as a member of the property management team.

To complement his New Zealand property experience Shannon has also worked in the building industry in Australia as well as being responsible for the management of various commercial and industrial properties with Atisreal Ireland in Dublin.
