Waikākāriki refers to the lush green waters of Horseshoe Lake, originally home to the Ngāi Tahu settlement of Te Oranga. Waikākāriki was one of many local mahinga kai valued by Kaiapoi Ngāi Tahu as an important source of food. The name Waikākāriki pays tribute to the ancestral connections of the site to the local sub-tribe of Ngāi Tuāhariri. We anticipate titles being available mid February 2010.
